Yuliya Shpyg (@yuliya.shpyg.music) is a Ukrainian soprano, opera and recital singer, researcher and vocal teacher based in the United Kingdom. She earned her Bachelor's degree from the Conducting and Choral Department of the prestigious L. Revutsky Music College in Chernihiv, before completing her Master's in Opera Singing at the National Music Academy of Ukraine in Kyiv. A former intern soloist at the National Opera of Ukraine, she performs a repertoire spanning Baroque to contemporary arrangement, with a particular devotion to Ukrainian song. She is Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Shpyg Foundation.

She earned her Bachelor's degree from the Conducting and Choral Department of the prestigious L. Revutsky Music College in Chernihiv, before completing her Master's in Opera Singing at the National Music Academy of Ukraine in Kyiv. A former intern soloist at the National Opera of Ukraine, she trained under the celebrated Diana Petrynenko and in the class of Prof. Oleksandr Dyachenko. Her repertoire spans Baroque to contemporary arrangement, with a particular devotion to Ukrainian song. She recently appeared with pianist Olga Paliy in Voice of the Light at Lauderdale House, and chairs the Board of Trustees of the Shpyg Foundation.

Yuliya Shpyg is a Ukrainian opera and recital singer, researcher and vocal teacher based in the United Kingdom, whose work brings the richness of Ukrainian vocal heritage to audiences across the United Kingdom and Europe.

Having earned a Bachelor's degree from the Conducting and Choral Department of the prestigious L. Revutsky Music College in Chernihiv, she completed her Master's in Opera Singing at the National Music Academy of Ukraine in Kyiv. Her vocal studies were guided by the celebrated Ukrainian singer Diana Petrynenko, who instilled in her a deep love of Ukrainian song.

Following her Master's degree, Yuliya joined the National Opera of Ukraine as an intern soloist, where she performed the role of Natalka in Mykola Lysenko's opera Natalka Poltavka. She continued her training in the class of Professor Oleksandr Dyachenko — a distinguished singer whose students perform at La Scala, the Royal Ballet and Opera, the Metropolitan Opera and other leading stages worldwide. During this period she also appeared at European festivals including the Trentino Music Festival and Academia Belcanto in Graz.

Yuliya has participated in masterclasses with an exceptional range of artists, among them Lamara Chkonia, Natela Nicoli, Eteri Lamoris, Emma Kirkby, Olga Pasichnyk, Christa Ludwig and Claudia Rüggeberg.

She continues to work as a postgraduate researcher at the National Music Academy of Ukraine (Department of World Music) and teacher of operatic voice. Her commitment to Ukrainian musical heritage led to an invitation from the Ukrainian Institute in London to present a Ukrainian programme at a fundraising evening. Creator and founder of the opera project Atmosphere of Christmas (Kyiv), she also performs in the VoiceSaxPiano trio with saxophonist Roman Fotuima and Daryna Shutko.

A passionate advocate for both opera and contemporary art, Yuliya has performed across Europe and the United Kingdom in numerous international musical projects. Her repertoire spans from Baroque to modern fusion arrangements, and she is a dedicated champion of Ukrainian song in contemporary performance.

Her operatic repertoire reflects both the lyric and dramatic range of her soprano voice, including Susanna and the Countess Almaviva (The Marriage of Figaro, Mozart), Musetta and Mimì (La Bohème, Puccini), Marguerite (Faust, Gounod) and Natalka Poltavka (Kotliarevsky).

A gifted singer and pianist, Yuliya brings warmth and romantic creativity to every performance. As Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Shpyg Foundation, she actively supports young Ukrainian musicians and creative projects.
